This is a bet on a magazine feature that has existed exactly once. Time named Gorbachev "Man of the Decade" in December 1989 — only the second time in its history it departed from the annual "Man of the Year" format (the other: Churchill as "Man of the Half-Century" in 1949). Time skipped the '90s, 2000s and 2010s entirely, so the biggest risk isn't picking wrong — it's Time never running the feature and everyone losing.
The board is basically "who already won POTY this decade": Musk 2021, Zelenskyy 2022, Swift 2023, and Huang among the "Architects of AI" honorees in 2025. The Gorbachev precedent actually favors Musk — Gorbachev was a two-time Man of the Year before getting the decade nod, and Musk has 2021 plus the 2025 group pick.
Glaring gap for the sketch: Trump — two-time POTY — isn't listed. The board sums to ~127%, classic longshot bias. And there's fresh trauma here: when Time picked "Architects of AI," Kalshi ruled "AI" bettors lost while anyone holding named architects like Altman, Musk and Huang won — so expect another wording-based riot if Time picks "The Disruptors" or something equally uncashable.
