Resolution criteria. This market will resolve to “Yes” if Zohran Mamdani officially releases a new song between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM PT (Los Angeles time). Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. Officially released means that a newly released song or single is officially available for download or streaming (not including live performances or leaks) by the resolution date. Re-releases, remixes, or alternate versions of previously released songs…

Why we chose it

Mamdani just won the NYC mayoral race in November 2025, and his old rap catalog as Mr. Cardamom / Young Cardamom went viral all over again — "Nani," a song dedicated to his grandmother, has recently gone viral again thanks to his political rise, and TikTok edits of his 2015 chapati anthem "Kanda (Chap Chap)" with Ugandan rapper HAB are everywhere. The bet exists because his rap past is now the running joke of his mayoralty — he's the meme-able politician who literally has a Spotify page, and on his X account, Mr. Cardamom jokingly characterizes himself as "a B-list rapper", keeping the bit alive himself.

Why this specific bet vs. "will he rap at inauguration": releases are bright-line resolvable (streaming upload), live verses aren't. Yes case: he's leaned into the persona, has a built-in viral audience, and a Madhur-Jaffrey-tier music video drop would be free political media — also "Nani" is the sole entry on Cardamom's official Spotify page, so a follow-up is overdue. No case: he's now running America's biggest city; dropping a rap single as a sitting socialist mayor is a gift to Fox News, and he hasn't released anything new since 2019.

What we thought

Sal
Forty-six cents with zero volume. That's not a line, that's a random play on Spotify. Nobody's actually betting this yet.
Eddie
Somebody built a market on whether the NYC mayor drops a Christmas single as Mister Cardamom. That's not politics, that's a mixtape watchlist.
