This market exists because Trump is term-limited, so for the first time since 2015 the throne is genuinely open — and William Hill is even booking Trump third-term bets at 5/1, which tells you how unserious the edges of this race get. The comedy engine here is Vance's soft frontrunner status: he's at 18% with his own boss's Secretary of State breathing down his neck at 16%, and Ladbrokes has actually dumped Vance as favorite in favor of Newsom, citing the Trump-Iran war fallout. So the same question prices Republican-red on Kalshi and Democrat-blue in London — pick a side, mock the other.
History says fade everybody: the frontrunner two-plus years out (Giuliani '08, Jeb '16) usually loses, and sitting VPs win nominations but split generals. Recent movers: Harris admitting she's "thinking about" 2028 bumped her 3% to 5%, and Ossoff's monster fundraising lifted him to a shock tie with Newsom. The listed names sum to only ~74% — a quarter of this market is "someone we haven't thought of yet," including Tucker Carlson and Don Jr. lurking as hedges.
